At Designer Bodies Dwain taught me to take a scientific approach to my training and nutrition; being a doctor I can appreciate that. By selecting exercises that focused on my goals and then teaching me how to perform each exercise in a manner that complimented my unique body structure made all the difference for me. I notice an increase in flexibility, functional strength and improved endurance within a few weeks. The exercise techniques that I learned also take unnecessary stress off of my joints. And at my age it is extremely important to me to take extra good care of my body. When it came to eating I thought I knew how to diet, maybe that was the problem? Dwain told me to forget about dieting. I can't believe it has been five years since my Integated Body Makeover! But it has and I am still enjoying living the Dynamic Fitness Lifestyle that became natural to me while working with Dwain. I was very excited when my husband suggested we talk to Dwain about his Integrated Body Makeover System! At our first meeting Dwain really took his time with us and was genuinely interested in hearing our concerns and answering all of our questions. It had been awhile since we had exercised, so we were a little concerned we might get too sore from the workouts. To our surprise we didn't. Dwain introduced the workouts at an intensity level that was acceptable to our bodies; we actually left the gym feeling better than we did when we arrived. Dwain told us at our consultation that we could expect this. We laughed because we thought exercise was supposed to hurt. As we progressed, the workouts did get harder, but we were ready for it because Dwain always challenged within our current level of fitness. He explained this approach works extremely well for beginners and senior adults. However, Dwain has some younger more advanced clients that he tells us he pushes through what he calls the pain barrier on a regular bases. Joan Newsome (Age 59)

I always wanted to look like I could step on a bodybuilding stage; big, lean and muscular. But, I’d see guys at our gym trying to diet for competitions only to lose muscle size and look stringy. I knew their had to be a correct way of going about this so I read all the popular bodybuilding magazines to try and get information on contest preparation. What I found was most of the information was very general and their still seemed to be a great deal of trial and error. I wanted to learn how to peak the first time out. I worked hard to build size, strength and quality muscle. I wasn't willing to lose an ounce of that muscle!

One day I picked up one of Dwain’s brochures at the gym. I read it and decided to give him a call. We then met at his office for a consultation. To my amazement Dwain is a former world-class bodybuilder, holder of over two dozen bodybuilding titles. He has been a National Physique Committee Judge since 1985, which is a big bonus having a professional judge to analyze your physique if you are interested in possibly competing in bodybuilding, fitness, or physique competitions. He lived in Venice, California and trained with and studied under some of best trainers in the sport of bodybuilding. Not to mention that he trained with some of the top professional bodybuilders in the world. Dwain is the most knowledgeable person on the subject of body-transformation that I have ever met. He is not only a seasoned veteran in the sport of bodybuilding and trainer of hundreds of successful clients. He has many different personal trainer certifications and continuing education hours to his credit. After a very informative consultation I knew he was the fitness professional I wanted to work with.

Dwain put it all together for me. He took my training to the next level. In the gym he taught me how to maximize my efforts by performing the exercises through a path of motion that isolated my muscles, and a range of motion that didn’t stress my joints. This approach to exercise form allowed me to increase my workout intensity tremendously. He also taught me how to fuel my body in preparation for grueling workouts and how to fuel my body after those workouts for total recuperation. This not only allowed me to maintain lean mass, but as I was losing body fat I was actually able to gain lean mass. That’s right I got bigger and stronger. Dwain took a scientific approach to my training and nutritional needs. I know this is why I was able to make this kind of progress in only twelve weeks. Kim Perry (Age30)

I had always been lean and muscular. My problem was gaining quality lean mass. I say quality lean mass because I wanted to get bigger, harder and stronger without gaining body-fat. I found out by watching some guys around the gym that you can’t force-feed muscle growth, but you can force feed fat. These guys were gaining weight alright but their guts were getting huge. That’s not the kind of gains I was looking for.

I was extremely excited when Dwain told me his scientific approach would empower me to gain lean mass without getting fat. But, I have to admit I was a little skeptical. I wanted to gain muscle size very badly, so I invested the time and the money into Dwain’s Body Make-Over. Dwain designed my nutrition program first. Teaching me how to apply the principles of nutrient partitioning to prepare and repair my body from intense training. He then shared with me the secrets of nutrient loading at precise times of the day to take advantage of key opportunities for natural hormonal response to maximize gains in muscle mass and strength. This was amazing! I started my nutrition program approximately 72 hours before our first work out and by the time I arrived at the gym for my first session my body was fueled full of nutrients and ready for battle. I couldn’t believe I could feel so pumped, before training. Dwain taught me a lesson in work out preparation! QUALITY FOOD= QUALITY FUEL

Now came the fun part, the workout. I have been weight training since I was a teenager and when it came to working out I thought I knew what I was doing. Boy, did I get a rude awakening! Dwain’s knowledge on biomechanics, muscle isolation and the stimulation of the motor units (nerves responsible for muscle contraction) are light-years ahead of anything I had ever experience. He pushed me to a level of intensity higher than I ever thought I was capable of achieving. His approach was different than what I was used to. He taught me how to get the most out of each set, by focusing on each repetition, to contract the muscles as hard as physically possible when lifting the weight and to resist the weight and to keep tension on the muscles while lowering the weight through a path of motion that allowed me to totally isolate the body part that I am training while utilizing a range of motion that would not put unnecessary stress on my joints. At first he lowered the amount of weight I was using on each exercise until I became comfortable with the form, we then started to increase the weight. And to my amazement in 12 weeks my squats increased by 140lb (from 225lb.x15 reps to 365lb.x15 reps), my dead lifts increased by 180lb. (from 275lb.x10reps to 455lb.x10reps), my incline dumbbell presses increased by 40lb. (from 80lb.x10reps to 120lb.x10reps.), my dumbbell shoulder presses increased by 30lb. (from 60lb.x10 to 90lb.x10reps), these are just a few examples of the strength gains I achieved during my Body Make-Over. I was able to increase the weight I use on every single exercise in my program. I am amazed at my photos. I just can’t believe how pumped up I am. I gained 4" on my chest, 2" on my arms, 3" on my thighs, 1.5" on my calves (which I thought would never grow) and I actually lost an inch off my waist. Dwain doesn’t believe in body fat testing. He says it’s just a numbers game and prefers to go by the mirror, photos and how your clothes are fitting. However, since I entered the Body-for-Life Challenge they required body fat measurements. According to hydrostatic body fat testing at the University of New Mexico, my body fat percentage dropped from 10.5% to 7.0% and I gained an amazing 21lb. of lean mass. To say the least I am no longer skeptical! I highly recommend Designer Bodies to the beginner, intermediate and advanced athlete who wants to take their training to the next level, gain lean mass, strength and pump up their muscles. If a picture is worth a thousand words, my photos could write a book!

Joe Mamola (Age 31)

In the past when I have attempted to lose weight, I have always restricted my calories and like many women, ate mostly fruits and vegetables, unknowingly neglecting protein. On Dwain’s plan, I eat a more balanced diet, there for supplying my body with all the essential nutrients. I am also eating more now than I have in the past when trying to lose weight, as a result I am not hungry all the time and I don’t feel deprived eating this way. It’s the lifestyle approach to eating that I enjoy and will continue for years to come. Additionally, once a week (usually Saturday evening) I eat whatever I want, anything I may have been craving or thinking about during the week. This helps me psychologically and is motivation for me to stay on the program and is a nice reward for successfully completing another week. Physiologically it boosts my metabolism and allows for more weight loss when I resume back to my nutrition plan.

Dwain’s program also included resistance training (weight training). Which is very important for women of all ages. It reduces risk of osteoporosis, increases strength in the muscles and connective tissue, improves hormonal balance, improves digestion, improves self-esteem and creates feelings of wellness to name a few. Dwain complimented my program with a cardiovascular program for "heart health".

During my Body Make-Over, I didn’t just lose weight; I lost unwanted body fat and gained lean muscle. I am 5’3’’ and I now weigh 120lbs. I was able to lose more than 30lbs. and reduce my dress size from a size 12 to a size 2. However, the best thing about living what Dwain calls a Dynamic Fitness Lifestyle for me is that I feel healthier and I am a lot more confident. Time stands still for no man or woman! It has been more than seven years since I first trained with Dwain and I continue to use the principles that he instilled in me pertaining to muscular development & strength training, integrated flexibility training as well as nutrition management, I have modified my nutritional approach according to the principles of the Integrated Body Makeover System over the years as my goals have changed and it has worked out quite well. When I first contacted Designer Bodies I asked Dwain if it would be possible for me to gain 10lb. of lean muscle during my 6 month stay in Albuquerque. He told me he would have to see me in person before he could give me any kind of evaluation. To make a long story short, I worked with Dwain for almost 6 months and gained an unbelievable 30lb. of lean mass. I never would have imagined that I could see these results in such a short time, but I have to say I that I followed his instructions to the"letter".
